What A Fuckin' Week....
A lot of big matchups this week in our league as well as some classic Monday night finishes. Some teams continue to impress while other continue to disappoint. Even some (cough gabe cough) could be gaining some false hope.
The story of the week has to be Defenses with New England, Baltimore, and Gmen defenses all putting up over 23 points. Anytime your defense puts up that many points, your team should be looking good, right? Another trend is the continuous strong play out of late round/pick-up running backs like Arian Foster, LdT, and Peyton "I'm still a redneck" Hillis. A lastly, just a note... Antonio Gates might be the most valuable player in the league with the consistent amount of points he puts up at a position where other TE's will be lucky to put up 20 pts in a week over a whole season. Call me crazy, but if Gates continues to play the way he has, he has to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick next year. Without further ado, here are your week 4 results:
Johnson & Johnson vs AaronBrooks2JoeHorn
I know, I know. You guys are all saying the same thing: Why the fuck are we starting off with this matchup? There's no way that Gabe could have won down nearly 40 pts against a surging Johnson & Johnson squad, right? I mean Slick started Shiancoe who had a bye this week. AWWWWW YOU IDIOT! Well the fantasy gods answered Gabe's prayers because he completed the biggest comeback of the season. With 29 pts out of Pats Def and a surprise 18 pts out of Ricky "I smoke more pot than Mike" Williams on Monday night to take down Jeff's squad. Jeff had to be thinking this was a lock, especially with Dan Carpenter locked in to get atleast 10 pts. Unfortunately for Jeff he only got 2. Jeffrey knew things could get interesting when Mike Vick went down. Even with solid weeks out of Dallas and Peyton (I think its safe to say Jeff has the most country team in the league), Jeff couldn't take down an 0-3 Gabe squad. He can't be too mad as Big Ben returns next week and a solid performance out of Ryan Torain showed some hope. It gets no easier for Jeff as he has to take on the Fantasy Phenom next week. As for Gabe, he has to be thrilled to get his first win, even with 5 players putting up less than 5 pts. The false hope may continue as he has to take on the most disappointing team in the league: Gani's Greats. As long as Gabe doesnt start Ricky and Hines Ward who both have byes next week, Gabe could be on the comeback.
The Co-Conspirators vs TheReturn OfThe Rash
There couldn't possibly be another Monday night comeback, could there? Though not as big of a comeback as Gabe's, Frank and Steve's was just as impressive. Down about 5 pts the Co-Conspirators had Ronnie Brown left, but unfortunately Heller had Randy Moss. So Heller was going to hold-on, right? Randy Moss said "Nah Bitch" to Heller and there was another week 4 miracle win. Randy Moss put up 0 pts for Heller's team almost instantly ending any chance Heller had for a win. He shouldn't be too mad with nice weeks coming out of Roddy White and Schaub. But with Ryan Matthews possibly getting more carries, this could end Tolbert's run as a solid starter. There is some hope with Michael Bush possibly stepping in to start for the Raiders but that is nothing but a lock. Heller travels to Africa to face off in an "I go to Penn State still and you don't LOL" battle. As for the pourly run Co-Conspirator squad, it appears Steve has no idea what has been going on. But a win is a win. Braylon continues to impress with Sanchez playing like a possessed Mexican. It does not get an easier as they have to face off against AP+PM=Fag100% who has got to be upset with his performance this past week.
Fantasy Phenom vs AP+PM=Playoffs100%
Going into Week 4, this was definitely the matchup to watch for the upcoming week. The top 2 teams in the league squared off and the matchup lived up to the expectations. It started off looking really good for Wolff. Antonio Gates obviously didn't disappoint with nearly a 30 pt day. Even Kenneth Darby scored a td! And with Peyton being, well, Peyton Manning, it was looking good for AP+PM=ILose100%. I believe it was during halftime of the 4 o'clock games when we stepped out to smoke a bogue. I believe the quote went something like this "Wow it feels good to know that I've won already". Once the fantasy gods heard that it was allllllll over for him. I had the enjoyment of watching him while his team collapsed. It looked as if Arian Foster, the number 1 ranked player in the league, was not going to play and then BOOM an 85 yd td. Then Run DMC, possibly Wolff's best kept secret, pulls his hammy. Then just as a slim ray of hope Wolff needed Peyton to throw a TD.... just not to Austin Collie who Sussman had. Well guess who scored? Austin Collie. My friends and I just watched as Jeremy was sulking and was clearly upset. Atleast the Giants won LOL. As for Sussman's team, he is the last undefeated team and hopes to continue to pull away. With another big week out of Rivers, Foster, Mendenhall, and Finley, this team isn't not going anywhere. AP+PM=Vagina100% hopes to bounce back against the poorly run Co-Conspirators. As for the Fantasy Phenom, he faces Johnson & Johnson which is might be the matchup of the upcoming week.
Oh Africa vs NY Jets
Matt Gumnic and the NY Jets set off to travel to Africa in hopes of getting to .500. Unfortunately, slavery continues to thrive and Africa came out to play. Gumnic needed a 30 pt night out of his kicker Gostkowski, which um didn't happen LOL. NY Jets can't be too happy especially with big games out of Reggie Wayne and Frank Gore. Even Jonathan Stewart had 14 pts (WTF?). As for Africa, I think Jason might have made the start of the week in TO, who put up a whopping 33 points. Kyle Orton continues to establish himself as a must start every week in Denver's pass heavy offense. Jason has to be worried about Bradshaws availability next week aswell as Ray Rice who still has some lingering problems. Sitting at 3-1 and with Colston waiting to go off and Holmes coming back next week, Africa is on the rise. Africa will face off against The Return of the Rash in a battle of Nittny Lions. As for NY Jets, he'll face off against a streaking Dri Squad team.
Dri Squad vs Mr. Bojangles
What a disappointing week. After starting the season off 3-0 and facing off against a Dri Squad team with several byes, Bojangles thought he had it in the bag. With Pierre Thomas out, Adam needed to make a change and he made the right one in starting both LdT and Shonn. LdT continues to prove he is a top starting rb in the league with his near 30 point performance. With Shonn putting up 11 himself, the Dri Squad got exactly what he was hoping out of his Rbs. The nail in the coffin had to be the league best 29 point performance out of Chargers def. All I have to say to that is... really? Even with 1.5 points out of Moss and Murphy combined, Adam still held on. At 12:59 Bojangles decided to sit Steven Jackson who was questionable and start Mario Manningham. All you need to know here is that Manningham got 0 pts. Though it wouldn't have matter anyway (thank god), this was a very poor coaches decision. Now that McCoy has some fucked up ribs and Eli is continuing to play like My Ass Anderson, it appears Bojangles has his a tough spot. Hopefully he can bounce back against Silk/Stein TBA. As for Dri Squad, they take on NY Jets in what will be a must win for Gumnic.
Silk/Stein TBA vs Gani's Greats
Another week goes by and Silk/Stein TBA is still yet to change their name. In one of the most un-anticipated matcups in the history of fantasy sports, two winless teams faceoff in the battle for false hope. Surprisingly, Silk/Stein's team actually had a great week. It took MJD 4 weeks but he finally showed up with 25 pts. Eddie Royal and Keller continue to impress as well. Maybe this team can actually turn it around if these guys continue to put up decent numbers. As for Gani;s Greats, I really don't have much to say. This is the only team that is 0-4. You would think after what I wrote last week that Gani might not start Mike Sims-Walker. Welp, he did. And as for Jay Cutler. I think most of you know how I feel about him and he showed just how good he was this week against a stellar Giants def. Cutler put up a whopping -2 pts. Russell gets to face Gabe next week in another un-anticipated matchup. Silk/Stein will face a Bojangles team who could be headed in the wrong direction.
